There are quite a few amazing technologies that we use here in our office. One that we’re particularly excited about is the 3Shape TRIOS® 3 Basic Intraoral Scanner.
What Does an Intraoral Scanner Do?
Just as its name suggests, this marvelous piece of equipment scans the inside of your mouth. This scanner enables us to get precise details of the shapes, sizes, and conditions of various structures in your mouth. This, in turn, allows us to provide you with treatments for a wide variety of dental difficulties.
Dental Restorations| Crowns, bridges, and dental veneers are all pieces of dentalware that require a precise fit and custom design in order to properly function for you.
TRIOS® scanners are able to create a digital impression of your mouth, eliminating any need for physical molds. Using this digital model, we can design your restorations to perfectly fit your unique smile.
Sleep Apnea| One tried and true method of relieving sleep apnea symptoms is the oral sleep appliance, which keeps your jaw properly aligned as you sleep.
Intraoral scanners take precise measurements of your jaw, tongue, and airways that help us create a custom-fitted appliance that will work for you.
Dental Implants| Scanners can help us to decide exactly where to place your implants for maximum structural integrity and comfort. They are also used to create the models from which we craft the abutments and crowns to finish off the implant structure.
Dentures| The TRIOS® brand scanners are unique in their ability to work with denture creation. With the accuracy of their scans and the software technology behind them, we are able to create a full scale model of the inside of your mouth. We then use that to design a denture set that will fit perfectly.
Clear Aligners| Clear alignment systems such as Invisalign require very precise measurement of the teeth in order to create an efficient treatment plan. The TRIOS® scanners provide exactly that. With this information, we can work out the correct pressure needed for each alignment tray in the system.
